Chronic Hypertension: Overview

Chronic Hypertension refers to High Blood Pressure (Hypertension) that is a chronic, ongoing condition. Hypertension is a very common chronic disorder and there are various antihypertensive medications. Ongoing hypertension without a clear underlying cause is common, and is properly called “Essential Hypertension” (or “Idiopathic Hypertension”), although this condition is often just called “Hypertension”. Sometimes there is another disease that is causing hypertension, which is called Secondary Hypertension.
